Bennettsville
Bennettsvile is the Marlboro County seat. When agriculture was the solo king of the region, the farm land between the Great Pee Dee and the Little Pee Dee Rivers is said to have sold by the pound rather than by the acre. Whether or not that is true, Bennetsville was one of the wealthiest communities in South Carolina. Bennettsville also is the winter home of wild geese and swans (see Lake Wallace).

Bishopville
Well into the start of the 19th Century, Bishopville was an intersection of two wagon trails with just an ale house to mark the spot. Then came the railroad and a new access to the markets for cotton growers. In Bishopville, cotton is stil king. The annual Cotton Festival held each October is not the usual county fair. Drop by and see it.

Darlington
Darlington and Stock Car Racing are practically synonymous - especially each Labor Day when the Mountain Dew Southern 500 brings race fans in by the thousands. Adjacent to the Darlington Raceway is the NMPA Stock Car Hall of Fame and the Joe Weatherly Museum. If you're into racing, these should be on the top of your 'must see' list!
